The BOC is seeking Athletic Trainer volunteers to be part of a groundbreaking study that could change the face of continuing education as we know it today.
Volunteers will be part of a pilot study to test a new portfolio system intended to help ATs continue their professional development. The portfolio will provide ATs with the necessary tools and information to assess their professional needs and choose activities that will enhance their clinical competence and knowledge.
Benefits of Volunteering
As a volunteer for the study, you will access and complete the following:
Participants must commit to the study through the end of the 2016-2017 certification maintenance period. Volunteers will use the portfolio instead of submitting their CE via BOC Central™. Participants will still be required to submit 50 CEUs; however, there will be flexibility in selecting CE activities and participants will not be required to comply with category requirements. If a participant does not complete the portfolio study by December 31, 2017, his or her certification will expire.
The study will begin January 1, 2016, and will use the following general timeline:
About the Portfolio
The BOC Board of Directors charged the Continuing Professional Development Working Group with developing recommendations that will enhance the BOC's professional development programs and services.
The Working Group recommended further analysis of a continuing professional development portfolio system, as described above. As a result, the Working Group has been developing a formal system that will help ATs assess their professional needs. In turn, ATs will be able to select professional development activities that will best help them maintain or enhance their clinical competence and knowledge.
