As the BOC Board of Directors transitions its leadership in 2017, we extend our gratitude to outgoing president Susan McGowen. Her term on the Board concluded at the end of 2016.
BOC Executive Director Denise Fandel said McGowen has been an outstanding leader and has provided the Board with a collaborative, strategic direction.
“She has challenged all of us – the Board and staff – to be the best versions of ourselves,” Fandel said. “We are so grateful for her service to the BOC and the profession.”
Rusty McKune, a current Board member and Athletic Trainer Director, took office as president in January 2017. McKune was elected to the BOC Board of Directors in 2013.
McKune is actively involved in the athletic training profession at all levels. He has been a member and chair of the NSATA Governmental Affairs Committee and served on the NSATA Executive Board as secretary, vice-president, president and past-president. He serves as the Chair of the District V Governmental Affairs Committee and is the District 5 Representative to the NATA Governmental Affairs Committee.
McKune currently works as the Sports Medicine Program Coordinator at The Nebraska Medical Center. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1994 and his master’s degree from Ohio University in 1995.
Vice President and Athletic Trainer Erin Cramer will continue to serve as vice president and Physician Director Douglas Gregory, MD, will serve as treasurer.
