The BOC Announces Officer Transition on BOC Board of Directors

As the BOC Board of Directors transitions its leadership in 2020, we extend our gratitude to outgoing president Rusty McKune, MS, ATC. His term on the board concluded at the end of 2019.

BOC Chief Executive Officer Anne Minton said, “McKune has been an outstanding leader and has provided the Board of Directors with a collaborative, strategic focus that will benefit BOC for years to come.”

Patrick Sexton, EdD, ATC, vice president and Athletic Trainer director, took office as president January 2020. Sexton was elected to the BOC Board of Directors in 2015.

Sexton is actively involved in the athletic training profession at state, district and national level. He has served as a member of the Joint Review Committee on Athletic Training Education (JRC-AT) and as the vice-chair of the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) i.e. the committee on accreditation for athletic training educational programs and a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Professional Education Committee (PEC) and the PEC's Clinical Instructor Educator task committee.

Sexton is currently Director of Athletic Training Education and professor at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota. He received his bachelor’s degree from the then Mankato State University in 1985 and his master’s degree from the University of Arizona in 1986.

BOC Board Athletic Trainer Director René Revis Shingles, PhD, AT, ATC will now serve at vice president and Physician Director Douglas Gregory, MD, will continue as treasurer.

“We look forward to having Pat Sexton and René Revis Shingles as our president and vice president for the next term. Pat and René are two very passionate professionals, and both bring a wealth of experience and service to the BOC!” Minton said.
