BOC Exam Day Tip: BOC Profile Name Must Match Legal Name
Candidates not using the correct legal name listed on a government-issued photo ID when creating their BOC profile is one of the most common mistakes. On exam day, candidates must present both their government-issued photo ID and exam admission ticket that is generated from their BOC profile- and both names are required to match. If candidates use a nickname or shortened name they will not be admitted into the BOC exam. Today, we will break down this common error and how to avoid it.
Legal Name
Your legal name is the first and last name (including any suffix such as Jr, Sr, I, II, III, etc.) as it appears on a valid, government-issued photo ID (i.e., driver’s license, passport, state-issued ID).
Government-Issued Photo ID
A government-issued photo ID must meet all the following requirements:
- Be an original document; photocopied documents, electronic images and temporary IDs are NOT accepted
- Be valid; expired documents (bearing expiration dates that have passed) are not acceptable
- Include a recent, recognizable photograph
- Include your signature (the name and signature on the ID document must match)
- School IDs are NOT accepted
BOC Profile and Exam Admission Ticket
To create a BOC profile, candidates are required to enter their legal first, last name and suffix as it appears on a valid, government-issued photo ID. Candidates who have a change of name (e.g., marriage, divorce, second last name, suffix) are required to notify the BOC by completing the name change request found in their BOC profile.
Exam Day
As stated above, a candidate’s legal first, last name and suffix as it appears on a valid, government-issued photo ID must match the name reflected on the exam admission ticket generated from your BOC profile. As mentioned above, if candidates use a nickname or shortened name they will not be admitted into the exam.
