BOC Recap of the 74th NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo in Indianapolis

From June 22-24, the BOC exhibited at the 74th National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Clinical Symposia & AT Expo in Indianapolis. The BOC staff were there to connect with convention attendees at the BOC booth and answer questions. Prizes were awarded to visitors who participated in the booth drawing. Congratulations to our winners! Thank you to all who stopped by the BOC booth.
During the NATA event, several BOC volunteers participated in special events and/or were honored.Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Advocacy Strategies (IDEAS) Co-Chair, Carla Gilson, represented BOC during the NATA Ethic Diversity Advisory Council panel. In addition, Continuing Professional Certification (CPC) Task Force representatives Co-Chairs Michael Goldenberg, MS, ATC, CES and Susan McGowen, PhD, EMT, ATC, LAT, along with Alison Valier, PhD, AT, FNATA, presented the BOC continuing education session “CPC Update and Quality Improvement in Athletic Training.”
On June 22, the BOC Board of Directors and staff hosted a reception to honor BOC volunteers and to present awards. Congratulations to our 2023 volunteer service award winners: Rusty McKune, MS, ATC - Dan Libera Service Award; Rob Dicks, Sr., MA, LAT, ATC - Denise Fandel Award of Excellence; and Brian Hortz, PhD, ATC, SFDN - Paul Grace BOC Leadership Award. Each of this year’s award recipients were present.
Congratulations to BOC Board President Rene Revis Shingles, PhD, AT, ATC, for her recent honor. The Michigan Athletic Trainers’ Society announced that their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion award has been renamed to the Rene Revis Shingles MATS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion award for her work. Additional hats off to BOC Athletic Trainer Director Appointee Lynne-Marie Young, M.Ed, LAT, ATC, for being honored with the 2023 William T. Griffin Award for Outstanding Leadership in Legislative Advocacy award from the NATA.
