From BOC Exam to Certification - Steps to Become Certified

As the school year begins, it’s a great time to start fresh. Take some time to evaluate how you prepare your students for BOC certification. Although athletic training knowledge and skills are the core content of each candidate’s playbook, a misstep during the BOC certification process can lead to an unexpected delay.

BOC Steps to Certification

Determine Eligibility

  • Must be enrolled in final semester/quarter prior to graduation in a CAATE accredited athletic training program
  • Create a BOC Profile

    Review Exam Resources

    Apply for Exam

    • Must be registered/enrolled in final semester/quarter prior to graduation
    • Complete steps 1 & 2 of Exam Application

    Register for Exam

    Schedule Exam

    Take Exam

    • Bring valid government issued photo ID and make sure first name, last name and suffix appear EXACTLY as the name on the exam admission ticket
    • Bring admission ticket email from Scantron
    • Turn over prohibited items to the proctor
    • No part of the exam may be talked about after exam including, but it's not limited to, emailing, copying or printing of electronic files as well as reconstructing content through memorization and/or dictation

    Complete File for Certification

    • Submit supporting documentation
    • Look for results to be posted 2-4 weeks from last day of exam window

    1, Upload current emergency cardiac care (ECC) documentation once received

    2.Schedule official transcript to be sent electronically to the BOC as soon as CAATE accredited athletic training degree is awarded/conferred

    Exam Results

    • Look for an email stating status and exam results have been updated in BOC profile
