BOC Launches New Testing Accommodations Handbook and Request Form

The BOC has launched a new Testing Accommodations Handbook and Testing Accommodations Request Form to help candidates better understand how to request Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) testing accommodations. The updated resources make the accommodations process easier to understand by providing clear guidance on submitting a request for reasonable accommodations and streamlining the documentation needed.

The new Testing Accommodations Handbook walks candidates through the request process, explains the types of information that may be required, and provides guidance for working with a qualified provider to complete the necessary documentation. Candidates should review the handbook and become familiar with the form before submitting a request to ensure they provide all required information.

Beginning with the March/April 2027 exam window, candidates requesting testing accommodations will be required to submit the new Testing Accommodations Request Form as part of the accommodations request process. Candidates with approved accommodations prior to this implementation date will be accepted under the existing process and do not need to be resubmitted.  The new form is intended to help candidates and their providers clearly communicate the candidate’s accommodation needs and the information supporting the request. Providing the appropriate documentation up front can help streamline the review process and reduce confusion about what is needed.

Please note that the eligibility for reasonable accommodations is not changing, just the process of submitting accommodation requests. The BOC still accepts a diagnosis of a disability from a qualified health care provider or proof that a university or college previously granted accommodations.

The BOC recognizes that navigating the testing accommodations process can feel overwhelming. These new resources are intended to provide greater clarity and help candidates feel more confident when requesting accommodations.
