CARE Conference 2024 Recap

Compliance and Regulatory Education: Best Practices for Athletic Training

The BOC hosted the CARE Conference 2024, from July 9-10, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska. Nearly 70 attendees (in-person and virtual), representing 40 states, the District of Columbia and Canada, from the athletic training and regulatory industries participated. The two-day event focused on regulatory best practices for the Athletic Trainer regulatory industry. The CARE Conference is designed to assist regulators in developing strategic initiatives and resolutions to protect the public.

Attendees participated in roundtable discussions and multiple presentations over the two-day event.

The 2024 event featured the following speakers:

    • Dale Atkinson, Esq from The Atkinson Firm, LLC presented on Recent Regulatory Activities and Innovations
    • Keith Buckhout and Carl Sims from the Council for State Governments presented on the development of the AT Interstate Compact
    • Hannah Maxey, PhD, MPH from Veritas Health Solutions presented on how state regulators benefit from collecting and using workforce data and using the Cross Profession Minimum Data Set as a tool

Other presentation topics included handling misinformation on social media, investigating reports of sexual misconduct, CAATE updates on the evolution of AT education, BOC updates and an interactive session on states reporting trends and pertinent successes/challenges facing their state regulatory agency/board. CARE Conference Renamed

At the end of the event, it was announced that the CARE Conference would be renamed to the Brad Sherman Regulatory Conference.  More information on Brad’s legacy at the BOC https://bocatc.org/newsroom/the-boc-mourns-the-passing-of-bradley-j-sherman/.
