Ensuring Accuracy in CE Listings: A Guide for BOC Approved Providers

The BOC Program Directory is one of the most valuable tools available to connect BOC Approved Providers to Athletic Trainers (ATs). As a continuing education (CE) search tool marketed directly to ATs, it helps ATs find Category A programs to meet their certification requirements while providing BOC Approved Providers with free promotional opportunities. To ensure a seamless experience for ATs and reinforce the credibility of CE programs, entries must be made accurately and on time. Additionally, program listings and certificates of attendance must be aligned.

Why Accuracy Matters

After completing a CE program, ATs receive a certificate of attendance that is later used to enter CE information into their BOC reporting form for certification renewal. To simplify this process, the BOC generates a quick entry function within the CE reporting form using data provided in the BOC Program Directory.

When program directory listings and certificates of attendance do not match, it creates confusion for ATs and can cause unnecessary frustration. To avoid this, all program directory listings and certificates of attendance must match exactly, including:

  • BOC Approved Provider’s official name
  • Program title
  • Date(s)
  • Number of CEUs

In addition. Pathfinder, a component of Continuing Professional Certification (CPC) Renewal, will launch in 2026. Pathfinder is a technology platform with a personalized dashboard that enables ATs to customize a professional development path. The intuitive system will recommend program listings from the BOC Program Directory and allow ATs to save personalized references and targeted CE programs from BOC Approved Providers. The program directory listings in Pathfinder must be accurate to support ATs as they make CE selections.

Maintaining consistent and accurate information ensures a smoother experience for ATs while also helping to eliminate dirty data. Clean data streamlines administrative processes, reduces time spent resolving discrepancies and strengthens trust in your programs.

Meeting Standards and Deadlines

The current “Standards for BOC Approved Providers” require BOC Approved Providers to enter CE programs into the program directory at least 10 calendar days prior to the event. This includes all types of programs: synchronous and asynchronous, virtual, face-to-face, as well as public and private. Failing to enter program details on time limits BOC Approved Providers’ valuable exposure to ATs actively searching for CE opportunities.

Step-by-Step: Adding a Program to the Directory

Getting started with the directory is straightforward. Follow these steps to ensure your program is listed correctly:

Step 1: Add Program

  • Log into your BOC Approved Provider profile and select Add New Program.
  • Enter the Program Title exactly as it will appear on the certificate of attendance.
  • Complete additional fields such as topic, registration link, status (active), difficulty level, continuing education units (CEUs), domain(s), dual credential program (if applicable) and delivery method.
  • Save each section as you go, then select Add Program.

Step 2: Enter Program Offering

  • Once the program has been added, scroll down and select Add Offering (this is required and without it, the program will not appear in the public directory).
  • Key details to enter include:
    • Offering End Date: Virtual asynchronous courses may remain open for weeks or months. Add a new offering if the course continues beyond the current end date.
    • Cost: The price ATs will see when searching the program directory.
    • Cap Size: Use “0” for programs not open to the public.
    • Active Status: Only active offerings with a cap size above 0 will appear in the public directory.

The Bottom Line

The BOC Program Directory is more than a compliance requirement—it’s a direct link to ATs seeking high-quality CE opportunities. By entering programs on time, ensuring accuracy across listings and certificates of attendance and maintaining clean data, BOC Approved Providers can strengthen their reputation while making CE reporting easier for ATs.
